The Cultural-Educational Society Bratska sloga Žrnovo – Postrana has been preserving the tradition, culture and identity of the island of Korčula for over a century.
Roots reaching back to 1911
Kulturno-prosvjetno društvo Bratska sloga osnovano je 31. prosinca 1911. u Žrnovu-Postrani na otoku Korčuli. Počelo je raditi kao čitaonica na inicijativu don Nikole Batistića — svećenika, profesora, književnika i pjesnika.
Za prvog je predsjednika izabran don Pero Kalođera, žrnovski župnik. Temeljni cilj društva bio je podizanje obrazovnih i kulturnih standarda među mještanima.

Founding and early period
Bratska sloga was founded on the initiative of Don Nikola Batistić, a priest, professor, writer and poet, who recognized the need for cultural and educational upliftment of the inhabitants of Žrnovo and Postrana. Don Pero Kalođera, then parish priest of Žrnovo, was elected as the first president.
The society began its work as a reading room — a place where locals could gather, read newspapers and magazines, and educate themselves. Over the decades, it grew into the center of cultural and social life.
Throughout its long history, Bratska sloga was an indispensable factor in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the island of Korčula.
Over its century-long history, the society was the center of numerous activities in the place and played an important role, not only as a carrier of cultural-educational and social life, but also as an initiator of many useful actions.
Society statute
The work of KPD Bratska sloga is governed by a statute that defines the organizational structure, governing bodies, rights and obligations of members, and the society's goals.
The society is registered as a cultural-educational association and operates in accordance with the legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia on associations. The society's bodies are the Assembly, the Management Board, the Supervisory Board and the President.

Feast of St. Roch — patron of the place
Blagdan zaštitnika Postrane, svetog Roka, jedan je od najvažnijih javnih događaja u godišnjem kalendaru ovog žrnovskog zaseoka. Slavi se 16. kolovoza, dan nakon Vele Gospe, koji se također slavi kao dan KPD Bratska sloga. Na taj dan na Pijaci se tradicionalno igra moštra, uz koju se je obično izvodio i Stari bal. Ženski vokalni sastav, koji je također imao svoje mjesto u programu, osim pjevanja žrnovskih tradicijskih napjeva, prezentirao je i tehniku ručnog predenja vune.
